Pastor George B. Salter

George B. Salter was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1967 at Saint Mary’s Church Of God In Christ under Pastor and Mrs. J.W. Watkins.   He was called to the ministry and licensed in 1968.   That same year, he was appointed Assistant Pastor by Elder J.W. Watkins and served in that capacity for twelve years.

In 1982, Elder Salter and family joined the New Hope C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor and Mrs. E.W. Harding.   He was appointed Assistant Pastor in 1983.   Pastor Harding retired in 1993 and Elder Salter was recommended for Pastoral appointment.   In January of 1994, Bishop F.J. Goodman appointed him as Pastor of the New Hope C.O.G.I.C.

In 1968, Elder Salter married Gerdie Mae Ross.   They had two children, Bridgette and George Jr.   They were married for twenty-seven wonderful years.   Gerdie passed in January 1995.

Elder Salter met Sister Melba R. McCullough of Resurrected Temple C.O.G.I.C. in April of 1996.   At the age of twelve, she was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor and Mrs. C.J. Blake.   While attending Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C., Melba married Raymond McCullough.   They later joined Resurrected Temple C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor and Mrs. C.W. Conners.   They had two children , Robbie and Laquiva and served faithfully at Resurrected Temple.   Raymond passed in 1992.   Melba and children continued to serve faithfully.

Elder and Sister Melba Salter were married in August 1996.   They have four wonderful children, two boys and two girls.   After marrying Melba, God gave them a beautiful daughter, Vanessa Lee Salter.   They love God with all of their heart and are devoted to their natural family as well as their spiritual family at  New Hope C.O.G.I.C.
